O mestre do tai Chi derrotado. Bruce Lee ataca outra vez e o Kung Fu em discussão. Quanta balela! The Tai Chi master defeated. Bruce Lee's real fight and Kung Fu in focus; So many bulshits!

Por isso mesmo, se liguem; Tudo aqui postado é minha opinião pessoal baseada nos fatos que cercaram os acontecimentos. Não estou falando á esmo. Discordar ou não é problema seu. Então vamos logo pro que realmente interessa;

In the last few weeks a lot of people have been trampling on my patience to comment, either on video or here on the blog about martial arts topics that have shaken the internet last month, specifically the mma fighter challenge case that defeated the master of Tai chi and the videos recovered from what would be the only real fighting video of Bruce Lee ...Since I'm in preparation to go back to school and meet SiFu and my kung fu brothers, I really do not care enough about these matters. That I believe, they are a waste of time, so I refused as much as I had to comment with whoever was both cases for this and many reasons and because we agree; Is it really important?But from last week to here, a lot of people were filling my bag for me to comment on the cases and since the blog is read by a loyal public, I will try to summarize as much as possible my opinions about the issues.For this reason, connect; Everything posted here is my personal opinion based on the facts surrounding the events. I'm not talking at random. Disagreeing or not is your problem. So let's get down to what really matters;

Bruce Lee's real fight; True, myth or what? Was he really a fighter or a scam?

In 1964 Bruce Lee made his début on a grand scale by performing at Ed Parker's famous karate tournament, a famous American black belt in Long Beach, California. Bruce was already well known in the American martial, and his demonstration shocked them all by their unusual speed, strength and power (for the time and for the public).
It is not today that the full video of this demonstration is on the internet, despite the low quality. However, a stretch was recently recovered where Bruce and Ted Wong appear equipped with guards, helmets and gloves making a fight, or a sparing or something, as part of what Bruce's demonstration was. There is no other news besides the fact that the video has been recovered; They are the same images of 1964 without any other additional.

First of all; Bruce Lee was a real martial arts practitioner, being a formal student of Yip Man. This by itself, already removes any possibility of him being a "phonologist who did not fight anything" or a "deception", as Some detractors say. However his focus was not the martial arts at all, but the cinema! Lee was both an actor and a fighter and was divided into both tasks. He never proclaimed himself the initiator of any style of martial arts, having created his method based solely on his personal experiences of struggle, while attempting at all costs His acting career. Some considered him a good fighter and actor, others find him a terrible fighter and worse actor yet, but in fact, it does not matter.In second place; What's so funny about these videos? Everyone already knows how much Bruce Lee was and remains important to the martial arts in general. Forget the demeanor that the American media makes a fuss over your name; Effectively, Lee was instrumental in perfecting training methods, martial studies, etc, etc ... His Jeet kune Do today is one of the most respected names in the martial - When taken seriously! Obviously, everything that surrounds his name is extremely exaggerated and this causes many to doubt his abilities ... Something that we will never know, since he is dead now.Incidentally, the great work of recovering this video is something that is worth mentioning and should be congratulated. Other than that, nothing much

The MMA challenger and the beating the Tai Chi guy took; The kung fu in Check!

Esse pra mim é o assunto mais besta da história! Sinceramente é um tanto ridículo ter de discorrer sobre esse tema por alguns motivos e eu explico dando um exemplo;

This to me is the most stupid subject in history! Honestly it is a little ridiculous to have to talk about this topic for a few reasons and I explain by giving an example;
For those who do not know, there is a current tournament where guys enter a ring with English armor, helmet and everything else, sword and shield and these guys will fight each other with rules, round numbers and timed time. Obviously it's all entertainment, but the scams are real. I do not know exactly in what country this occurs but one of my Si Hings that lives in Europe from time to time sends me some videos of this tournament and I think it's sensational!
Now imagine that one of these guys challenges a specialist in Sicilian knives. The knife specialist does not wear armor, does not use long shields or swords, only knives, which are usually short and meet a certain specification and are worked in situations totally different from the situations of medieval combat. It seems absurd, does not it?

The same thing happened in this case of the Tai Chi guy versus the MMA fighter. I will not even mention the question of the involvement of money, entertainment, and all the bulshit involved. I will specifically address why this would go amiss anywhere in the world.First; If you do not understand what your martial arts do, it's no use trying to say that she's the superior and defeats everyone. One day you will come across someone better who will knock you out and make you shut your mouth! Tai Chi, Chi Gong, or any other style of kung fu exist for specific reasons and train for hypothetically specific situations, based on cultural expressions and influenced by customs of time, region and time. No martial art is capable of solving everything in unrestricted combat situations or in uncontrolled environments. That will tell you if it has to be adapted for controlled combat situations and rules that meet certain specifications ....Do you understand what I say? The MMA fighter, no matter how much experience he had, if he had to practice Tai Chi, would be a beginner ungainly and without good coordination, however much he has years of training, his body is not trained for that. Likewise, the Tai Chi master who probably never fought in this kind of environment (and perhaps in any other, you know ...) seemed like a punching bag because the environment he set out to test himself was not his . And the tendency is for this to be repeated with whoever it is; Be fighters of Tai Chi, Wing Chun, Muay Thay ... whatever; If you do not do an adapted training and preparation for this environment, you may be a Jedi ... you will probably get sick.

Therefore, there is no reason for people to be questioning whether or not kung fu does. Half the fuss of this is made by pseudo media celebrities and some youtubers who do not even train or who are there just to talk bullshit and watch the circus catch fire. Totally unnecessary. For these cases, I recommend reading the much quoted book The Art of War by Sun Tzu .... And if you are a serious practitioner of some traditional Chinese martial art, keep doing your job and do not listen to such nonsense!

Bem é isso, votaremos na próxima semana!

Well that's it, we'll vote next week!

Stories of a MoGwun; The day my student accepted a challenge!

( Entrada do centro de artes marciais BushiDo)
(Entrance of BushiDo martial arts center)

Thanks to my then student Augusto Pereira, as soon as I returned to Recife from my last trip to SiFu's house, I began the following month to teach at the Bushido Martial Arts Center, which is in the center of Recife until today. Until then, I had not imagined that our country would go through a crisis and the lack of money would make me spend more time away from school than I had planned. But by all means, a few months later, I was already with a class, and classes always happened three times a week with three hours of training on average.

My first class of this phase, with the exception of a single student that I expelled due to lack of discipline, became personal friends and some, continue to train, at least for what I learned about otives, even though they do not attend our school, they continue to practice. So it was with Elias Junior and Ialley Lopes.

Elias had been my neighbor since when I still lived with my parents and it was he who brought Ialley to our school, being his Gai Suy Yan (formal presenter). In a short time, both were mastering the basics of the first level quite safely. You can read their testimonials on the '' Testimonials '' page, just above.

As the Bushido martial arts center also involved other martial practices at close quarters, students of Muay Thay and other modalities often attended our training and were quite curious about what we were training. Once a guy, owner of an MMA academy, even sent a challenge for me, saying that in a few days he would come and fight me. Then, guided by SiFu, I did not send a message back and waited for him to show up at school, even for anything else.
So when I met him, I told the guy that if he really wanted to fight, we would do the doors closed and the key to the exit door in my pocket; The only way he could get out of there was by knocking me out or getting kicked out, just like Sitaaigung Duncan did in the 70s. The guy never came back there ....

Challenges were constant there. For the most part, no challenge was turned down. And that was very healthy, in the sense that most of the time we would fight and we would not go out there as enemies, but we would make friends with practitioners from other schools and some would become our students.

( Ialley on this pic)

One day, an unforeseen incident with the renovation of my house prevented me from arriving at school in advance. After all, I did my best to get to school, even more than an hour late. Upon arriving, I found Ialley, sitting, waiting for me, alone ... looking down, with a slight cut on his lower lip.

- ''Onde estão todos?''
Perguntei a Ialley assim que cheguei;

- ''Where is everyone?''

I asked Ialley as soon as I arrived;

- ''Não chegaram ainda...''

- '' They have not arrived yet ... ''

- ''Não? E aquelas luvas de boxe espalhadas ali no canto?''

- ''No? And those boxing gloves scattered there in the corner? ''

"That's because a group of four guys came in here and one of them asked about you ..."

- ''Tá e dai?''

"Okay, so what's the big deal?"

-"So he said that he wanted to fight and because I did not know what time you would arrive, I asked him to wait and he even thought that I was the instructor. As he insisted, we fought ... ''

- ''Ele te acertou pelo visto...''
- '' And He hit you...

Quando perguntei isso, achava que Ialley teria sido derrotado. Afinal, ainda um iniciante, Ialley já sabia fazer algumas coisas, mas não possuía ainda um bom repertório técnico. Mas ele me surpreendeu quando, sorrindo, disse;

When I asked that, I thought that Ialley would have been defeated. After all, he was still a beginner, Ialley already knew how to do some things, but he did not yet have a good technical repertoire. But he surprised me when, smiling, he said;

- '' Nothing! The fight was quiet for me! His punch was just one, I did not know he was coming for real. When he tried to move forward again, I applied Pak Sau followed by Li Wan Kuen - chase punches - I hit him and making him retreat ... Then he did not want to fight ... '

"'And did not even wait for me to fight?' '

-'' Não...o meu Pak Sau foi suficiente..''

- '' No ... my Pak Sau was enough .. ''

- ''Ah que pena... Gostaria de ter batido nele também...'' ( risos)

- '' Too bad ... I wish I had hit him too ... '' (laughs)

So we went on to our regular workout amid laughter and a certain sense of pride, because Ialley defended our core so well. The day had been fruitful ...

Até a próxima

See you later
